Annual Reports

It gives me great pleasure to present to you the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland's Annual Report 2010.

Created under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, the Tribunal has now been operational for five years and this Report covers the period April 2009 - March 2010.  During this time, the Tribunal has continued to grow and develop.  The Tribunal is widely recognised as a body that plays a very significant  part in the Scottish Mental Health Law System, which itself has had a positive impact on mental health treatment in Scotland.

The aim of the Tribunal is to provide a responsive, accessible, independent and impartial service when making decisions on the compulsory care and treatment of people with mental health problems.
