Users' and Carers' Group

The Tribunal established this Group to give organisations the opportunity to feedback on any issues arising from Tribunal practice and procedures, to and help inform the development of communications with the Tribunal Service Users.

Role and Remit of the Service Users' and Carers' Group

  • To provide feedback on issues relating to Tribunal procedures
  • Help inform the development of the Tribunals' Service User communications
  • Review and discuss issues arising
  • Identify problems and propose remedial actions

The functioning of the Tribunal is complex and some issues may have complex causes. The potential solutions may also be complex. By bringing together the organisations involved at national and local level, broad account of the issues can be taken which will include many perspectives and be informed by the current or potential impact of legislation, guidance documents and practice.

Where the changes required to remove problems or facilitate improvement lie within the authority of the Tribunal, the advice of this body will be taken very seriously and, where practically and financially viable, implemented. Where the action required lies elsewhere, this body may act as a key communicator and lobby for change.
