The Tribunal suite is used solely by MHTS and is within the grounds of the State Hospital. On arrival at the State Hospital all parties will be issued with a pass. The hospital operates an airport-style security system (see below for further details).

Getting Here 

  • The nearest railway station is Carstairs, which is 3/4 mile or a 15 minutes' walk from the venue.

Facilities

  • This is a secure hospital venue which complies with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 for building accessibility. 
  • There is car parking around the hospital entrance . 
  • Please refer to the Safety and Security Requirements - August 2025 before your arrival at this venue. 
  • There are no on-site facilities, however tea and coffee are provided within the Tribunal suite.  Lunch is also provided for any attendee who does not have grounds access within the hospital 

Tribunal Suite

  • Report to the main reception with photographic identification and you will be taken to the Tribunal suite. 
  • The Tribunal suite is used solely by MHTS and is within the grounds of the State Hospital.  On arrival, all parties are issued with a pass.  The hospital operates an airport-style security system.  There is a list at the Reception detailing items which cannot be brought into the grounds of the hospital (e.g. mobile phones and umbrellas) and which can be stored in a locker at the main reception area.  From there, parties are taken to the Tribunal suite.
